The Adobes at Sky Ranch is a project consisting of twenty-six stabilized adobe homes in a subdivision in the foothills of the Tortolita Mountain in North Tucson. Working with James Gray, the developer, we designed six model homes in a traditional territorial style to create a unique neighborhood. The homes integrate sustainable energy efficient architecture with historic design that utilized recycled materials like antique wood beams and doors. The homes are built with thick mud adobe walls, earth-based plaster, and rusted metal or clay tile roofs.
