BOB LANNING
FOUNDER & REGISTERED ARCHITECT
Bob Lanning founded Lanning Architecture in 1998. A graduate of the University Of Arizona School of Architecture, Bob spent the first fourteen years of his career working at downtown Tucson firms cultivating his sense of place, his dedication to building with green materials, and his client-centered working style. In 2004, he moved his firm into the 1202 Studios, a retrofitted Midas muffler shop which he and two other colleagues converted into office space at 1202 E. Broadway. Proud of the large body of work that he and his staff have produced over the years for individuals, developers, non-profits, and businesses, Bob values the opportunity to create buildings and spaces with other creative people, including clients, which he finds immensely rewarding.
Bob and his family, Kate Hiller and Cole Lanning, reside in the Santa Rosa Neighborhood in downtown Tucson. The traditional, historic, and innovative urban culture of downtown Tucson is a diverse and ever-evolving community that is a joy to work, live, and raise their son.

ELIZABETH GARRISON
REGISTERED ARCHITECT
Elizabeth has been with Lanning Architecture since 2016. She grew up in downtown Chicago and became interested in architecture when her dad taught her to use a camera. Elizabeth graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2010 with a B.A. in Architecture, and completed her Masters in Architecture degree at the University of Virginia in 2015. In 2020, Elizabeth completed her Architectural Registration Exams and became a licensed architect in the State of Arizona.
While at Lanning Architecture, Elizabeth has especially enjoyed the challenge of working on old houses in historic neighborhoods - where intentional design is important both at the scale of a window jamb and the scale of the street; plus, you never know what surprises you’ll find when you open up an old wall! She enjoys the puzzle of “solving” a house, down to its smallest detail, while also respecting the idiosyncrasies of how and where people live. But she also loves that the desert asserts itself so strongly into the design of every project, from the smallest studio to the largest custom home.
When Elizabeth isn’t working, she enjoys running and rock climbing - remnants of her time as a competitive gymnast. She also loves to travel and take photos, cook, and read. Elizabeth and her husband, Jeremiah, welcomed their daughter, Maya, in May 2021. One of her favorite toys is a tape measure.
